Our Therapists

Karen Jones – Salon Director

Sun & Beauty was established 20 years ago, by Christina Storie. When she decided to hang up her tweezers and retire, Karen took over as the new owner in October 2016. Karen had been a client at Sun & Beauty for over 15 years and as the saying goes, she liked the business so much she bought it!

Karen also owns and runs Reflections Hair Studio and The Wig Studio both in Ramsey and is excited for the future of Sun & Beauty.

She says “I have got the most amazing team of therapists, all of who are dedicated to making your Sun & Beauty experience one to remember”. She goes on to say “We have now put into place our plans to build on the already firm foundations of the business, by moving to our much larger, lighter, brighter premises in the centre of Ramsey, with the addition of our luxurious Spa, more treatment rooms and an even wider choice of treatments than ever before, we feel we are making good progress towards our aim of our salon being the premier salon and spa in the island”

Justine – Spa and Salon Manager

After studying beauty at the Isle of Man College, Justine came to work full time at Sun & Beauty and has now been with the salon for 9 years. During those years, Justine has gained further qualifications in reflexology and false eyelash extensions, as well as being super experienced in all aspects of the beauty business. She says that she doesn’t think there is anything that could surprise her anymore!

When Justine was asked what she enjoys most about her role she said “I love my job because there is so much variety to each day, and no two days are ever the same” She also said that what makes Sun & Beauty special is “That we like to create a relaxed and calming atmosphere for our clients, but we like to have some fun too and it’s this balance that clients tell us makes them feel so welcome”

Justine loves all things beauty and is especially relishing the new challenge that being Spa manager has given her. “The Spa is such an amazing space, and I just love seeing our guests relax and enjoy the time they spend with us – they all seem to leave us looking like a younger version of themselves!”

Jackie – Nail Tech and Therapist

With a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty, Jackie trained to become a nail tech whilst on maternity leave with her first child, She says it was the best decision she has ever made – She loves what she does and really enjoys seeing a client have their mood lifted and leaving the salon with fabulous nails.

After completing her training in Lossiemouth, Scotland, Jackie worked in her own salon, mostly looking after the nails of the RAF wives there… After a second baby, they made the big decision to move to the Island, to be closer to her husbands family, and have settled in Ramsey. It was ‘a fantastic move’ she says.

Since joining the Sun & Beauty team two years ago, Jackie has grown her skills by carrying out further training both here on the island and back ‘home’ in Scotland. Alongside her core skill of nails, including Regular and gel Manicure, Hard gel overlays and extensions and Acrylic nails, she now also offers Facials and waxing and is part of our ‘creative team’ being one half of our duo of our talented make up artists.

Jessica – Beauty Therapist and Brow Specialist

A Ramsey girl with a passion for all things beauty, Jessica went to the Isle of Man college after leaving school to begin her career in the only industry she ever wanted to work in. She worked part time for a Douglas salon for a short while after qualifying, before joining Sun & Beauty when Karen took over in 2016.

Within a few short weeks of joining the team Jess went from part time to full time and now almost always has a waiting list for her appointments. She offers all beauty treatments within the salon, and enjoys being part of the Spa team carrying out the more holistic treatments for our Spa guests too.

A combination of extra training at the HD Brow academy in the UK and a rare natural talent, mean that her design skills with Brows are second to none, she has clients traveling from island wide for her expertise and advice.

Lilee – Beauty Therapist

Our youngest member of the team, Lilee completed her two year Beauty therapy course in May 2019. She joined us at the end of her first year of the course as a receptionist / trainee and we couldn’t wait for her to join us full time!

That happened in June 2019, and she has already established herself as a valuable and talented member of the therapy team, fully booked almost from day one, Lilee offers almost all of our salon beauty treatments, she is part of our creative team, being the other half of the make up artist duo and is also working as part of the Spa team, offering the holistic and relaxing treatments to our Spa guests.

Lilee says that “I am loving being part of the team at Sun & Beauty, everyone has made me feel so welcome, I am so looking forward to growing in experience and developing my skills further” When asked if she had already found a favourite part of her new job, Lilee said “I love seeing how my treatments can make someone have a better day by making them feel more positive – and I get such a buzz when clients come back again and again – it makes me feel like I’ve done a good job!”.

Part of our creative team, Holly is our resident hairdresser, offering hair up and special occasion hairdressing. Holly has been with our sister salon Reflections Hair Studio (www.reflectionshair.salon) since leaving school, first as a trainee, then as a fully qualified stylist. After qualifying, Holly went back to the Isle of Man college and took the level three hairdressing course, completing in May 2019 – one of a very small number of stylists on the island to achieve this level of qualification.

Holly works between the two salons, all her colouring, cutting and creative work happens at Reflections, and at Sun & Beauty, she concentrates on hair up, curling, straightening and ‘dressing’ for nights out or special occasions

Holly says ‘’I love having the opportunity to work in both Reflections and Sun & Beauty, it allows me so much freedom to be creative and to create some really lovely styles – working alongside the make-up artists is fun as we pull a bespoke look together for our clients’’.
